Re: Coffee Dulce de Leche
Yes! I loved his shows.
He even did a show on Pennsylvania Dutch recipes once and he talked about Rivel Soup! My grandmother used to make that. It's basically a chicken vegetable soup, but with Rivels, which are flour dumplings that are tossed into the soup to cook. They are all wrinkled and do not have a fixed shape. I never saw it in any other recipe book.
The one difference was that his Rivels were small, almost like Spaetzle. This is what my Grandmother's soup looked like. Her Rivels were larger.

The frugal gourmet (Jeff something or other) was busted for child/ sexual predator type crimes.
Re: Coffee Dulce de Leche
Wow! I never heard anything about this. No wonder he just disappeared.

With few exceptions I can not stand 'modern' cooking shows.
Re: Coffee Dulce de Leche
His cookbooks were all great! His recipes were always perfect. That is very rare. I never had a bad one from the Frugal Gourmet.
Now, I can say that is also true of the recipes from America's Test Kitchen. I have never made one of their recipes that wasn't perfect.
I have had bad recipes from Ina Garten, Giada De Laurentiis, even Bobby Flay but never America's Test Kitchen or the Frugal Gourmet.
I am trying to think of anyone else that may give perfectly tested recipes.
Sometimes I think cookbook authors let others test their recipes and you cannot depend on other people to do your job as well as you will do it... that is a rule of thumb I live by.

He had great cooking shows but I am not sure about all of his recipes... sometimes they seemed over the top, but he was a great personality.

I used to love his show; he was a hoot. Then he got a bad case of Liberal Food Sanctimony Syndrome.
Re: Coffee Dulce de Leche
If you Google the Galloping Gourmet on YouTube you can watch him! I did it last night and ended up watching a couple of his old shows!
It was GREAT!
