Re: Nice little cooker
I knew this nice little cooker once, but one day when I was a bit burned out, she got steamed at me, and that baked the whole thing... Oh, Wait. wrong thread. Sorry.
Re: Nice little cooker
My wife has one. So far, I've not had anything out of it I liked. But then again, we've not experimented much with it.

So, are the extra 'instacooker' features worth the price? My mom used a pressure cooker long ago and I thought of buying one. I might end up on some NSA terrorist watch list if I buy a pressure cooker, like I'm not already. ;-)

Hey, when your first post is in the recipes section, you're supposed to speak in broken English (or pure nonsense) and include links to porn or something.patentlymn wrote:So, are the extra 'instacooker' features worth the price? Re: Nice little cooker
I figured my "nice little cooker" puns would get me tossed out on my ear.
Maybe if I post a recipe for rattlesnake stew...

Re: Nice little cooker
I can cook a potroast in about an hour instead of 4 or 5 like the crockpot. Given that my wife and I are on the go a lot, the time savings are more than worth it.patentlymn wrote:So, are the extra 'instacooker' features worth the price? Re: Nice little cooker
When I was about 4 years old I was in the kitchen watching my mother can tomatoes with her pressure cooker, and it exploded. It scared me, and I started crying.ProgramsWithFortran wrote:I bought a pressure cooker instead, it works great.

Re: Nice little cooker
I gave my crockpot away. I just didn't like the way food tasted. I'm scared of pressure cookers, as I just mentioned in another thread.ProgramsWithFortran wrote:I can cook a potroast in about an hour instead of 4 or 5 like the crockpot. My moms had a weight that balanced on the outlet steam valve. I wonder how it could blow up?ConsrvYank1 wrote:When I was about 4 years old I was in the kitchen watching my mother can tomatoes with her pressure cooker, and it exploded. I remember hearing the pressure cooker whistle as I watched The Twentieth Century with Walter Cronkite on Sundays.

Re: Nice little cooker
The new electric ones have several safeties on them that makes them, well, safe. A pressure sensor and temperature sensor, if either goes off so does the cooker. Finally, an old mechanical standby, a gasket on the inside that will blow out and release the pressure in the event the sensors don't catch it.

Of course I am talking 1944-1945. I certainly hope they would have improved since then.ProgramsWithFortran wrote:The new electric ones have several safeties on them that makes them, well, safe. That just brought back a memory or two.
I remember the lil' silver metal heavy thing, that sat on top of a porthole with steam spewing out. It sorta moved around a bit, pivoted.
Of coarse, all that was before we had Kroger and Food Lion.
