I was just reading through the recipes on Steen's website http://www.steensyrup.com/recipes193.html. And, I had to post this one. I don't know if I'll make these, but see if you can spot the FUNNY.

Page Boy Cookies

2 ½ cups sugar
4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup butter
½ tsp salt sifted with flour
2 eggs
½ cup Steen's Pure Cane Syrup
2 tsps vanilla
1 tsp soda dissolved in
1 cup nuts
4 tbsps hot water

Mix in order given. Roll and chill overnight, slice and bake (about 10 minutes at 325 degrees). This makes a very crisp cookie and if stored in a tight, closed container will remain crisp for several weeks. Rolls of cookie dough may be frozen and baked as needed.

YIELD: About 7 dozen

So, it says to mix in the order given. See what you do with the soda? You dissolve it in a cup of nuts!

When I poured some Steen's over some hot cornbread last night, I was thinking about you and your case of cane syrup.

I just had a teaspoon of Steen's - just a teaspoon. It's wonderful stuff. My daughter bought some gluten-free cookie button things that were just awful. So, I was looking for something to make just to get rid of the taste of those things.

I don't know. I just think some people have a natural ability to put stuff together. Others seem scared to death for fear they will poison someone. I think some people don't understand the goal of the recipe - any recipe. I love to cook because I love to eat! I tend to remember anything that improves the final product. :highfive:

The sandwich spread is quick. The popcorn balls and the peanut butter cookies are good too.

I love to cook because it's relaxing! I shut out the rest of the world and I find myself humming! :lolh: Then, of course, when everyone is oohing and aahing over the meal, I feel like a million dollars.

It seems my reasons are all selfish!!!!!!!!!!!! :lolh:

I've never tried Steen's but I always have cane syrup in the house so I'm going to look for it next I'm in the market!

If you find some, try a single teaspoon in your coffee. That is my weekend morning treat! Either that or a spoon of sweetened condensed milk in the coffee.

Oh, thank you! I will!

I've never tried sweetened condensed milk in my coffee either! I'll try that too! I'm not a big coffee drinker unless it's a fancy, sweet coffee, so that should work well for me!

In the places I went in SE Asia, if you asked for "coffee milk", they put a heaping spoonful of sweetened condensed milk in their freshly roasted (locally grown?) strong coffee. Ah.....the memories. :) Some of the best coffee ever.

I always avoided the places with a civet napping on the counter.

Soon...I will relive those times!

OK. I now have my own digital camera, so you may see the offending of many ancient cultures pictorially documented.

Yep! Just wrapped up all the reservations. I'll wrap up the medical and evac insurance today and get my last shots on Monday.
Walking through forests of palm tree apartments ---
Scoff at the monkeys who live in their dark tents
Down by the waterhole --- drunk every friday ---
Eating their nuts --- saving their raisins for sunday.
Lions and tigers who wait in the shadows ---
Theyre fast but theyre lazy, and sleep in green meadows.
Lets bungle in the jungle --- well, thats all right by me.
Im a tiger when I want love,
But Im a snake if we disagree.

Just say a word and the boys will be right there:
With claws at your back to send a chill through the night air.
Is it so frightening to have me at your shoulder?
Thunder and lightning couldnt be bolder.
Ill write on your tombstone, ``i thank you for dinner.
This game that we animals play is a winner.

Lets bungle in the jungle --- well, thats all right by me.
Im a tiger when I want love,
But Im a snake if we disagree.

The rivers are full of crocodile nasties
And he who made kittens put snakes in the grass.
Hes a lover of life but a player of pawns ---
Yes, the king on his sunset lies waiting for dawn
To light up his jungle
As play is resumed.
The monkeys seem willing to strike up the tune.

Jethro Tull!

When do you leave? Is it alright if I say prayers, for you, for a safe journey?

Prayers are always appreciated!

I'll give notice a little closer to my departure date...so Carl or Kad can't set up some elaborate practical joke.
