I believe the jar (about 1 cup) cost between 2 and 3 dollars here. I am not a real good price watcher. :ohwell: I had to buy the basil which I know was $2.50 so it's not a real cheap dish.

I make almost that same recipe except with pork. I cut the pork in strips and brown it. Then add some water and cook slowly for an hour until it is tender. My sauce has brown sugar in it - equal to the amount of vinegar I think. I use less pineapple then that and also add onions.
