Re: Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts

How do you poach chicken? :dunno: And we're trying our best to stay away from bad carbs. I know the cranraisins are sugar, but that won't be the only salad we make...I'm just trying to get my kids used to having salad for a meal. And I will ignore the grits comments, because CLEARLY the person post...

Re: I think...

I understand both of you completely. I also LOVE to cook. The most wonderful part of it is when you see the happiness it brings to others. I made homemade italian meat sauce over the weekend for my brother and he was thrilled. It is so gratifying to see how the food you prepare makes the people you ...

Re: Free cookbooks at Costco this weekend

Our local Costco's had ran out pretty quick this year... :ohwell: Hopefully the one he goes to will still have some. He's going to try to go today around lunch time. I hope he doesn't have to go to the bathroom on the way. Oops, I forgot I wasn't supposed to razz him when he's sick. I just couldn't...

Oh. I would always try to do that. Hopefully he will be able to get a few copies. He's sick right now so we'll see. I'm looking forward to getting to Michigan and meeting up with you. I think we'll have a lot in common :) He is sick again? Poor Kad, get better soon. Maybe you should whip up some ex...

For Lunch

I'm making Bubble & Squeak :teehee:

You put mashed potatoes, stuffing and turkey together in a bowl and make patties out of them. Roll them in some flour and fry them. Then pour leftover gravy over them and enjoy.

Re: Cold today so chili tomorrow.

Now that is different, putting italian sausage in chili. One time I experienced what I call a chili travesty. This person put mushrooms in her chili. I can't stand mushrooms so imagine my horor as I was getting ready to take a bite of a nice bowl of chili and seeing a mushroom on my spoon. I cried ...

I have one for baked beans. Open can of Bushes Homestyle Baked Beans. Pour into large pot. Add barbeque sauce to taste. Heat on stove until warm, stirring occasionally to prevent beans from sticking to pot. Serve warm. Enjoy! You are quite the chef there Kad! :lolh:  And I'm willing ...

Re: Potatoes

Does it effect the flavor/texture of mashed potatoes if you peel/cut them the day before and soak them in water in your frig? I am trying to save some labor on T-day. I heard once that they will absorb the water and get mushy but I'm not sure if that's true. Yeah I was afraid of that. I know it wil...

Re: Thanksgiving Menus, Recipes, and Ideas

What brine recipe did you use? I made one up consisting of the 1 cup of kosher salt, a gallon of water, some cracked garlic, peppercorns, fresh sage, thyme and rosemary. I just read the almost exact same recipe online minus the peppercorns and garlic. They said to cook it for about 15 minutes, whic...

Re: Thanksgiving Menus, Recipes, and Ideas

I brined a turkey breast yesterday to test it out and it came out way too salty. falvegas...A question for you

or anyone else that may know the answer.

I am making Cream Cheese Brownies tonight for a bake sale at my work. The recipe calls for a 9X9 pan but I only have an 8X8. Can I use this and does that change the cooking time? If so, how should I adjust the cooking?
