Re: Chocolate Cake for mother's day . . .
I made this cake last week. It was wonderful! The only change I made was that I used superfine sugar instead of regular sugar, because I had read that superfine sugar gives a better tighter texture. Will absolutely make this case again! thanks!

Re: Lavender
A beautiful and bountiful lavendar plant grows in my office, thanks to a friend who gave it to me, a while after I baked her a delicious lavendar birthday cake. (I no longer have the recipe; it was on the back of the Wilton rose pan). Lavendar is one wonderful! Thanks for the recipes!

Re: Perfect Pound Cake - from the Pioneer Woman Blog
I have not previously heard of imitation butter extract--odd since the recipe calls for so much butter. I have often used vanilla-butter-nut extract, which is delicious in a pound cake.
Recipe looks great! Will try soon. Thanks!

I put a little olive oil over the steaks about 1/2 an hour before I broil them. They come out very tender! Found that recommedation in a Littel Italy cookbook.

This may be heresy, but I just bought already cooked frozen meatballs on sale and they were great! I wondered why I had not bought them before after all of these years. Guess they hadn' gone on sale!

The Cake Bible by Rose Levey Berenbaum is good.
I will miss Gourmet magazine.
Southern Living magazine often has fine recipes.
I have a copy of The Escoffier Cook Book, which I treasure.

Re: I'm a Convert, Black Summer Truffles
My all-time favorite pate is a pate called Mousse Trouffee, a wonderful, rich smooth pate that is just heavenly. It has little specks of truffles in it. A Thanksgiving favorite.

Rick's Lemon Chess Pie
I searched the internet for a good lemon chess pie. I found this one; it is really fine. My friends loved it and said not to change a single thing about it. I had not previously heard of Rick Dees but his pie recipe is really good. Rick's Lemon Chess Pie Ingredients 1 9" Pie Shell 2 Cups sugar 1 tab...

I just use the recipe on the back of the Crisco can (except I add a tablespoon of sugar and extra water) and the crust is great. The addition of butter sounds super! Thanks, ConsrvYank~

Re: Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
Many Caesar Salads call for a coddled egg, not a hard boiled egg: To coddle egg: Coddling causes the yolk to become slightly thickened and warm. Bring a very fresh egg to room temperature by immersing it in warm water (otherwise it might crack when coddled). Place the egg in a small bowl or mug and ...
