Re: Not really a recipe...
Overnight. I'm hearing from different sources that oil does nothing to tenderize meat, and there's plenty of oil in Italian dressing.

Re: Not really a recipe...
Thanks.
Some parts were more tender than others. It was pretty good for a first shot. We got another picnic, so we're trying again real soon.

Not really a recipe...
...just some grilling experimentation: After indirect-cooking a pork picnic for what seemed like four days and having it come out dry, we wanted to see if boning and marinating would make that cut more tender. Local store had half-picnics on sale. I found a small piece that felt like there was no bo...

Re: Buffalo Wings
Who eats live baby eels? Which nation? That's definitely too much. I have eaten eel but I can guarantee you it was very dead. A story: I was in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Mass; took a lunch break at a small French Restaurant [ around the corner from Julia Childs home ]. I ordered a poor-mans lunch,...

He had great cooking shows but I am not sure about all of his recipes... sometimes they seemed over the top, but he was a great personality. I used to love his show; he was a hoot. Actually we were gonna get a portable oven, too. Would have come in handy today and tomorrow. Oh, well, that's what crock pots are for.

Graham pecan chews
I freely admit I swiped this recipe off another forum, but DANG they are guuuuuud. And easy to make. I made a one-third recipe. Used butter because I don't own margarine, and used a combo of walnuts and pecans 'cause that's what I had on hand. Could get away with using slightly less butter. Should h...

Pig on a bun!
I had picked up a package of pork on sale that said, Country Ribs. But it wasn't. This was instead a couple of loin slabs. Not a lot of fat. They were going to be too dry for what I had in mind. So we wrapped the individual cuts in bacon and loaded them in BBQ shake. They went into a pan on the gas ...

Wow, that is fabulous! Good for you! That is the kind of store I would visit often, even if i didn't need anything. I would love talking to those Italians. It's actually a little dangerous for us to go there. ;) Anyone coming to my neck of the woods gets a standing invitation to tour Unca Gee's.

Uncle Giuseppe's: a limited East Coast supermarket chain. Like a giant high-end pork store. We call it Unca Gee's. Good Lord, that is the most magnificent website and store I have ever seen! Of course it's no surprise that it's in NY. The videos are fantastic, and they even give you the recipes. I ...

St. Louis Pork Steaks.
This is quick-n-easy, and you can manage it either on a gas rig or coal-burner.
Great web site.
In fact, that's kinda how we do it, and we're lucky if there are leftovers.

Re: Not exactly 'recipes,' but we're back to BBQ
We took a lot of storm damage from Sandy that year, which blew down four or five big trees. Our regular landscape crew was able to remove the downed trees but suggested there were others that needed pro removal and stump grinding, so we had called a tree removal company this spring before storm seas...

Why, thankee!
We saved a bit of the wood for BBQ smokeage. It's mostly oak and swamp maple, neither of which we've tried before.

Amen! Would those be BEEF short ribs? Can not find them here, noway nohow. I am really surprised if you live where I think you live. Dang, i didn't think there was anything you couldn't get in that area. NYC area, right? Remember, you can't even get salt, butter or a big soda in 'that area.'

Thanks, ever'one....we have yet to try the 3-2-1 rib method. We never foil-wrap but I'm curious, and we still have a temporary Big Box Store membership. Time to buy more ribs.
